How to become a trauma surgeon?


The trauma surgeon is a person who diagnoses, examines and treats the patients by the means of surgery. They are the professionals who conduct various surgical procedures during medical emergencies. The trauma surgeons initially complete their bachelors and medical degree. After the successful completion of the medical degree the student needs to complete an internship and residency. To start practicing the trauma surgery all by themselves a person must need a surgical experience of at least two years. 
Following are some of the tips that may help you to become a trauma surgeon:
  • Start a career by getting your four years bachelors degree with at least a year studying the organic chemistry along with the physics and biochemistry subjects. You may also need to complete a year of calculus. After completing your bachelors you can start contacting the medical colleges that you would like to attend.
  • Now appear for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). It is a mandatory test for applying in any medical college as these colleges consider only those students who appear for this test. Schedule your test by calling the medical college admission test helpline number.
  • After appearing in the medical college admission test, apply to various medical school programs. You can also check for the American Association of Medical Colleges in the directory.
  • After taking an admission in the medical college expect four years of full time schooling. During this schooling the student must also need to undergo an internship in an emergency room for about two years.
  • After completing your medical school you need to spend at least two years to complete your residency. The residency period comprises of about sixty hours a week for the entire two years. It helps you in gaining lots of experience and knowledge.
  • After completing your residency you can apply for the state medical board exam. If you complete this medical exam successfully, you become a certified trauma surgeon.
