Acne - Disease Symptoms and Causes

Acne is an irritating skin disease found mostly in the teens and the youth. In some cases, it may be found in adults and may occur even when you cross your forties. The acne disease can be treated and its effects vanish with age. Acne can cause a huge inferiority complex or discomfort with one’s appearance. This is why you find a lot of questions about acne floating in the minds of today’s image-conscious men and women. Don’t be surprised if your teenage daughter or son pesters you with questions about acne, like how to cure acne and why my face is full of pimples but my friends isn’t? Don’t worry; most of these questions can be answered.

Causes of acne:

Acne is caused due to changes in hormones during teenage years or during pregnancyin adult women. Blockage and changes in size of sebaceous glands, follicles or skin pores etc. can aggravate acne.

Most of the causes of acne can be explained as follows

• Dandruff , having an oily or very dry skin, pollution can cause acne

• Eating salty, oily food or junk food can increase chances of acne

• If your parents had acne you might too suffer from acne

• A stressful life , depression and anxiety can cause acne

Signs and symptoms and acne: 

The first appearance of an acne or pimple may cause surprise and even panic. Often the inflammation or reddening of skin infections during acne is confused with other skin disease.

Signs and symptoms of acne are seen as follows:

• Appearance of blackheads or whiteheads or comedones

• Appearance of zits, pimples or nodes

• Skin especially on the face and the back or neck region becomes flaky or scaly

• Pigmentation, tingling sensation or reddening of the skin

• Scars or pits formation often leaving skin dark or discolored.
